In Hercules Against the Moon Men, Hercules/Maciste's first fight scene occurs when he's waylaid by what appear to be random thugs (who, it turns out, were sent to prevent Herc from reaching Samar). In another departure from HATMM, I thought it would make Red more noble to have her (and Keiko's) first fight occur as a result of Red accomplishing her life's purpose: confronting and destroying evil and injustice whenever and wherever she finds it.
